The older adult population is growing rapidly worldwide. As the baby boomers live longer, the need for specialty programs, such as Senior Fitness, will continue to rise. This interactive session provides a clear understanding of what women experience during mid-life, in addition to essential fitness tips to manage and alleviate the many symptoms associated with mid-life transition. Discover 10 powerful tools to cope with midlife transition, key components to understand the 4-stages of menopause, effective solutions to manage menopause symptoms, basic nutrition guidelines and fitness recommendations. This workshop is filled with valuable information for women of all ages and stages. Men are welcome!
Learning Objectives:
1. Learn how fitness plays a very important role with mid-life transition and menopause and find out answers to “what, when, why, and who” as they relate to mid-life transition.
2. Distinguish between the 4-stages of menopause and the various symptoms and explore how to manage symptoms associated with mid-life transition and menopause (hot flashes, weight gain, hair loss, memory loss, mood swings, depression, and problems sleeping).

SPECIALIZED MILITARY FITNESS PROGRAMMING
This workshop is designed to assist military members and civilians working with military members to design safe and effective training programs with an emphasis on military physical fitness testing. The course includes fitness knowledge, programming skills and supplemental training concepts for Fitness Improvement Programs and Enhanced Fitness Programs. Participants will learn a variety of techniques to enhance group exercise instruction, unit physical fitness group training and one-on-one training. Specialized training programs include cardiorespiratory, strength/resistance and flexibility training, in addition to mind-body techniques.
Learning Objectives:
1. Create a safe and effective training program with an emphasis on cardiorespiratory, strength/resistance and flexibility training.
2. Enhance physical fitness performance to improve military physical fitness testing requirements.
3. Learn a variety of techniques to enhance group exercise instruction, unit physical fitness training sessions and one-on-one training.
4. Integrate basic anatomy, physiology, kinesiology and biomechanics knowledge in relation to working with the military population.
5. Review professional responsibilities and instructional skills, and understand the mechanics of injury prevention, modifications and exercise progression.
6. Utilize the appropriate level of communication and professional skills to motivate and coach military personnel.
7. Experience a variety of group exercise formats, such as indoor cycling, yoga, Pilates, core stabilization, circuit training, strength and resistance training, and boot camp.
8. Discover new concepts, such as myofascial release, stability ball training and mind-body techniques.
9. Learn a variety of exercises performed in a weight room, utilizing small tools and props available in a group exercise setting and body weight training.
10. Review basic dietary guidelines.
